Most of what defines Demeter Pumpkin Pie Cologne could come straight from a spice rack, pumpkin and nutmeg bringing the top a warm, slightly vegetal character, the pumpkin lending a genuine squash quality rather than a sugary one. Cinnamon and ginger build the core into the familiar baking spice accord, dry and warming rather than sweet. Sugar and clove finish it, the sugar arriving last and turning the composition into dessert only at the very end. Holding the sweetness back until the drydown is the clever part, since it means the fragrance smells like a pie being made rather than one already served. Pumpkin Pie belongs to fall and winter wear, a gourmand Cologne through and through. Comfortable, dependable and unmistakably Demeter, Pumpkin Pie wears exactly as promised.
